About Hilde Amushembe

I have more than 10 years experience in building infrastructure maintenance and capital projects management. I am currently in the academia industry where I am teaching and growing my research career. My ultimate goal is to become one of the 'Power Quality specialist' in Namibia and beyond. I am aiming to be a well recognized researcher in the electrical engineering space, more specifically power quality (harmonics, voltage sags/swells, flicker, voltage unbalance, transients, etc.). My dream is to establish a power system research institute with a state of the art power quality laboratory. This dream is driven by lack of research publications on Namibia's power system and lack of power quality specialists in the country. I enjoy supervising students innovative projects that talk to societal issues in Namibia like energy, water and food security. In my leisure time I enjoy farming with crops and poultry. I aspire to retire to a self-sustaining orchard farm with organic nuts and herbs.
