About Hillary Hiday

I am very passionate about teaching in an elementary classroom because I believe that teachers at this level have the ability to shape a student’s desire for learning, which they can carry throughout the rest of their lives. It is crucial for teachers to make a positive impact on young students’ educational and social experiences at such a young age. I am enthusiastic, passionate, and open minded. I consider myself strong willed and I uphold the deepest understanding of individual needs and learning processes. Throughout my 14 week student teaching experience I learned classroom management skills, how to effectively implement different strategies into lesson planning, and I also learned how to be flexible. Content level expectations and standards were greatly emphasized in the Education Program at Albion College. After four years of working with students and collaborating with my own classmates and professors about classroom strategies, I feel that this program has been a substantial asset to my growth as an educator. I have become dedicated to life-long learning and teaching after participating in the tutoring program in the Albion Public School District. I realize the need of every child for a positive role model and a safe environment where learning can take place. I have become passionate for building a rapport with each and every student to increase my understanding of diverse backgrounds and experiences. When I get to know my students, I am able to develop my lesson plans to satisfy their needs.
