About Hillary Misner

With over 13 years of experience, I coin myself a "Jill of all trades" in all things aesthetic. I've worked in an array of design - email, social, web, animation, print and publication, and have a background in photography and art and photo direction. At Big Lots I work with the ecomm and marketing teams to build weekly digital ads, homepages, campaign lockups, typography and illustration and other web assets. Prior to my time at Big Lots I worked as a Senior Designer at Kreber, where I helped a variety of clients including Bed, Bath & Beyond, BuyBuy Baby, Hamilton Beach, Melting Pot Restaurants, Scotts Miracle-Gro and more, covering web wireframes and banners, email, social posts. storyboards for animators, and print and packaging materials. My previous position at Rod’s revolved around retail catalog production. I'd help select talent, apparel and accessories with buyers and stylists, make photo guides for shoots, and lead large multi-day photoshoots on a local horse farm. After shoots I'd process images, layout catalog spreads and color correct for print production. It was a role in which I, again, wore many hats.[One of] my passions is food. Cooking, baking, food styling and food photography. As Alton Brown once said "Nobody will feed you as well as somebody who loves you. I believe there's a tangible, transferable value of love in cooking for people." And what's more wholesome than that? I love assembling and "building" a photo. If you're looking for someone to make your dishes sing, I'm your lady. I'm a hobbyist to the core. Catch me making macramé wall hangings one week and leatherworking the next. Tending my garden then baking a crispy-crusted sourdough. Building scale-mail then making soap. I like keeping my hands busy, getting lost in the details, and always have a personal to-do list in the works. I'm a collector of authentic, good people with big hearts.
