About Hilton Miller

Hilton grew up in Marlborough and graduated from Christchurch Polytechnic in He has worked for top New Zealand Architectural firms for nearly 20 years. Originally based in Christchurch, he moved to Queenstown in 2007. In 2019, he started his own studio - Hilton Miller Architects. Hilton is a New Zealand Registered Architect and a member of the New Zealand Institute of Architects. He has developed a reputation for award winning, high quality and bespoke architecture over varying disciplines, amassing experience in residential, commercial, hospitality, interior and sustainable design. He started his career as a technician/ model-maker and developed a thorough knowledge of all aspects of architecture, with a particular speciality in Residential Design. His work demonstrates a strong understanding of the construction industry and this extensive knowledge is apparent in the clarity of ideas and strong communication skills between clients, consultants and contractors. While he is an exceptional designer, Hilton’s ability to form these highly collaborative working relationships is of equal importance and forms the keystone for robust deliverables and a successful project. Hilton enjoys complex problem solving and the artistic opportunities created by challenging sites and diverse clients. His broad construction knowledge mixed with a calm demeanour, creates trustworthy and strong working relationships. Design and Client focused, Hilton is not afraid to think ‘outside the box’. He will always strive for exceptional design outcomes that compliments the surrounding environment, whether Rural or Urban. Every client and site is unique, he will work with you to develop your brief and understand the initial context and drivers. These ideas are fully examined and further explored through sketches and finally translated into the built form.
