About Hiroki Kikuchi
Hiroki Kikuchi is Deputy Senior General Manager and Distinguished Engineer of Sony Corporation R&D Center. He received his B.S. and M.S. in applied physics from the University of Tokyo in 1990 and 1992, respectively. In 1992 he joined Sony, where his research fields were solid state laser, electro-optic light modulator, deep-UV laser microscope, MEMS-based laser projection display and volumetric light field display. He is currently in charge of photonics and display technology in R&D Center, especially on augmented-reality display and novel projection display. From 1997 to 1998, he studied at Ginzton Laboratory, Stanford University as visiting researcher. In 2003, he received Sony Outstanding Engineer Award for the development of laser projection display. His specialized domains are optics, laser physics, industrial and commercial application of lasers, display technologies on projection, light field and augmented reality.
