About Hitham Aldharee

I am an Assistant Professor of Medical Genetics & Biochemistry, and a Senior Laboratory Specialist in Genetics, with years of experience in higher education, clinical practice, and biomedical research. I hold an Associate Fellowship (AFHEA) from Advance Higher Education- UK, awarded in recognition of my contributions to teaching and learning support aligned with the Professional Standards Framework (PSF 2023). Clinically, I am certified as a Senior Specialist in Clinical Laboratory- Genetics by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS). In my academic role, I design and deliver undergraduate courses in medical and molecular genetics, biochemistry, and molecular biology. I also actively contribute to curriculum development and serve on various academic committees focused on improving the educational environment and fostering student success. I established and currently supervise the Genetic Diabetes Unit at the Abdullah Al-Othaim Centre for Diabetes within Qassim University Medical City (QUMC). The unit offers genetic counselling and testing services for patients with suspected monogenic diabetes. Additionally, I am involved in the operational activities of the Biochemistry unit in the Department of Laboratory and Blood Bank at QUMC. I have worked in biomedical research for over 10 years and have participated in various preclinical and clinical studies on genetic diseases and cancer. I have successfully secured grants and published in highly reputable scientific journals. I am open to academic, clinical, and research collaborations in medical and molecular genetics.
