About Holine van

I am a current second year student at the George Washington University pursuing a BS in Biology with a concentration in Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Science and a BA in Political Science with a minor in business through The George Washington University's double degree program. Growing up in and around Nashville, Tennessee, I was constantly surrounded by both the natural world and a diverse political climate. This upbringing helped me develop these two passions. I have looked for any way to observe and understand the relationship between people and the natural world around us. Through interview, data analysis, and field observations, I was able to conduct an independent research project exploring the effects of heightened tourist numbers during COVID-19 on the natural environment of the Florida Keys. By developing the skills of independent goal orientated progress, I hope to continue to expand my understanding of both the political world and how it intertwines with the natural world. Beyond both Politics and Biology, I was raised to have a strong work ethic. With my father, stepmother, and stepfather all being entrepreneurs, I was constantly in an environment that exposed me to a wide variety of skills and industries, from construction to the music industry. I was able to learn about marketing, business strategy, and the importance of devotion to one's goals. I carry these skills and ideals with me in any position I have or goal I set my mind to.
