I have served my Country, State, County, and City in one form or another since the age of 18; I truly enjoy serving/helping others. I have held supervisory/leadership roles during my career in Law Enforcement, small business operation, and teaching work history. Helped create an outside business consisting of a pool of “off-duty” sworn officers to provide added services to local clientele as needed. In doing so I developed and handled scheduling, invoicing, and budgets. Extensive experience handling a variety of different clientele through various levels of communication. In Law Enforcement I resolve disputes, identify hazards and potential problems and often seek to head them off before they get worse. Writing reports daily, maintaining records and files, adhering to a chain of command. With my experiences in small business I deal with independent agents, independent contractors, and outside business's fostering and maintaining relationships. In the academic realm I keep up with developments in the criminal justice field by reading scholarly articles, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences; focusing on career-related subjects, such as Federal and State Law. I find the job rewarding because I am surround by others who enjoy their subject. I give my student the opportunity to learn the theories of criminal justice through the academic work. However, I am also able to share the “practice” of criminal justice with them, by relating to the students “real life” examples and expertise from my field experience of over 20 plus years.
