About Holly Bates

A research scientist with principal interests in glucocorticoid physiology and how they regulate energy metabolism. My postdoctoral research at Mount Sinai Hospital and PhD in Physiology were done in distinguished labs that focus on Diabetes and Obesity, stress physiology and gastrointestinal hormones. I have honed my analytical and organizational skills, and have proven my ability to multitask and manage multiple projects concurrently. I am a strategic thinker and have learned the importance of hypothesis driven research that can be directly translated into better treatment and/or prevention of disease. I have learned how to use discipline, carefully plan and organize my projects, and how to prioritize. I have refined my ability to influence and lead my colleagues/team leaders, because presenting a cohesive and persuasive argument is instrumental to achieving scientific success. To date my research has produced 13 articles in high impact journals, 28 published abstract/poster presentations, and 2 invited lectures, demonstrating my extensive experience in report writing and scientific presentation. The success of previous and ongoing collaborative projects exemplify my strong interpersonal, collaborative, and teamwork skills. During my training, I received uninterrupted funding through competitive fellowships. This, in addition to my publication record, demonstrates my success and experience in communicating research hypotheses and results. Teaching experience includes Lecturing and working as a Teaching Assistant. My effective teaching, leadership, and mentorship skills are displayed by my strong teaching ratings, and success of mentees who have all moved on to graduate degrees and/or medical school. I have proven organizational, time management, analytical, and interpersonal skills with a strong attention to detail. I have demonstrated my enthusiasm and quickness to learn and I am open to new opportunities.
