Background
About Holly McGhee
I carried Madeline around until 3rd grade—until Mrs. Carrier, my school librarian, told me she had a book I might like to read-it was a novel, and it was called HOLLY IN THE SNOW. I loved it, and found out years later that my mother had phoned Mrs. Carrier and asked for help—she was worried that I was still reading Madeline. And now I am right back in the picture books—I can't seem to get enough of the beautiful way words and pictures fit together—and I am a lover of story in all its forms. At Pippin we represent all categories of books—picture books, middle-grade, graphic, young adult, and the occasional pop culture or adult trade book. I feel so lucky to be part of this world, and I can't imagine spending my life any other way. We are privileged to count these literary stars among our Pippin clients: Kate DiCamillo, Jandy Nelson, Kathi Appelt, An Na, Sean Qualls, Peter H. Reynolds, Nina LaCour, Jason Reynolds, LeUyen Pham, Erin Entrada Kelly, Edel Rodriguez, Jason Reynolds, Varian Johnson, David Ezra Stein, David Small, Katherine Applegate, Doreen Cronin, Sujean Rim, Adrian Matejka, and Sarah Weeks, the list goes on: My own middle-grade debut novel, Matylda, Bright & Tender, a story about two friends, loss, and a leopard gecko named Matylda, was published by Candlewick Press in Spring 2017. And my New York Times bestselling picture book, Come with Me, a collaboration with Pascal Lemaitre, was published by Putnam in Fall 2017. Listen, another collaboration with Pascal Lemaitre, was published in Fall 2019 from Roaring Brook Press and was a Brainpickings Favorite Book of the Year, an honor I hold close to my heart. And my third collaboration with Pascal, What the World Could Make, was published on May 4, 2021, again from Roaring Brook Press.
