What I do can be summed up in 3 words: I build relationships. I happen to have an oddball gift for all things insurance; allowing me the opportunity to make a positive impact in the day to day lives of others. Insurance isn't glamorous, and no one likes it, unless and until they NEED it. Not even me! My insurance experience includes work in property and casualty, life and health, claims, and sales. I've also built my own book of business from the ground up as a Broker Certified, Independent Insurance Agent. The joy of my career has been serving the small business community of South Carolina and their incredible employees. It's beyond rewarding to play a part in helping business owners develop benefit programs that support their employees, while helping their business grow, retain and attract quality talent. From day one, I felt drawn to make it a priority to include focused attention to the under-served smaller businesses run by "disadvantaged business owners."(These are defined as businesses led by owners classified as: a female, a minority, a veteran, or one who identifies as LGBTQ.) My work in this space has been the most meaningful of my career. Pardon the following insurance geek out. If you're wondering why employees haven't responded well to a previous benefit offering, it's likely due to poor enrollment conditions that skipped right past the educating employees part. I can't begin to count the number of times employees have thanked me for helping them understand insurance.(I know, sounds weird, but I'm literally told at every single enrollment.) I always point employees back to their employer who cares enough to grant me the time to properly educate them about their benefit options SO THAT THEY can make an informed decision about what may or may not be a good fit for their individual needs.
