About Holly Strain

Holly Strain graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the College of William & Mary. Serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in West Africa sparked an interest in health work, and upon return from her two-year stint, she completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Georgetown University. For 11 years, she worked as a Registered Nurse caring for people before and after renal transplantation. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Colorado in 2021 and has been working as a nurse practitioner in a nephrology practice since that time. This winter, she will graduate with her Doctorate of Nursing Practice, having completed a project entitled “Improving Activation Among Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease: A Quality Improvement Initiative.” Holly believes that only by practicing compassionate, respectful, and excellent care can we work together to promote health in our communities, neighborhoods, and in the lives of families and individuals. Her future career goals include playing a leadership role in improving care for all, including educating the next generation of nursing professionals.
