About Hong Li

Hong Li, Ph.D, is currently a Sr. Scientist with Nippon Electric Glass Co, Ltd. where he leads development of new fiber glass technologies for commercial applications, including wind turbine blades, ballistic protection, corrosion protection, pressure vessels, automobile, etc. Previously he has worked for PPG Industries, Inc. for 17 years for Fiber Glass SUB. He is a recipient of PPG Industries’ INNOVA AWARD for low dielectric glass fiber development and a PPG Collegium Member for his lifetime sustainable achievements, including the recent development of INNOFIBER® Fiber Glass Technology Platform. Professional experience also includes SCHOTT North America Inc. where he led high power laser glass development and Pacific Northwest National Laboratories where he focused on glass development for vitrification of low- and high-level radioactive wastes. Dr Li is a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society and has co-organized and co-chaired numerous well recognized international symposia and conferences on fundamental glass science and fiber glass technology. He is the recipients of Marquis Who’sWho® in Science and Engineering, Marquis Who’sWho® in America, and 2017 Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Li also serves as technical referee for glass and materials science journals. Dr. Li was formerly Chairman of the Glass and Optical Materials Division, the American Ceramic Society, and currently serves as a Council Member of International Commission on Glass (ICG) and co-chair of newly established Technical Committee (TC) on Fiber Glass for Reinforcement and Insulation under ICG. Dr. Li has co-authored more than 95 publications in peer reviewed technical journals and is a co-inventor of more than 100 patents/patent applications worldwide.
