About Hope Schaefer Kemps

My name is Hope Schaefer Kemps (she/her) and I am pursuing a Master's in Professional Counseling with an Emphasis in Student Affairs College Counseling at UW Oshkosh to help me better support students in college. For the past 4 years, I have worked in a variety of roles at UW Oshkosh from being a Graduate Career Advisor with Career & Professional Development to promoting health and wellness to students at the Student Recreation & Wellness Center. My goal is to cultivate an environment where everyone has an equal opportunity for success. I want to close equity gaps and promote student success by advocating for students and teaching them skills to help them identify and pursue their interests. I am passionate about health and wellness and have a special interest in helping first-generation and limited-income students. Throughout my time at UW Oshkosh, I have been dedicated to improving the experience that students have on campus. This is demonstrated by the hundreds of hours spent working on-campus positions and from the awards I have received for demonstrating leadership, academic excellence, and dedication to inclusion. These include the Outstanding Student Ally Award, LeadHERship Award, Educational Opportunity Award, Stephen Kearney Award, Alfred Kisubi Scholarship, and the College of Education and Human Services Scholarship. As I continue my education, I am looking for opportunities to grow as a young professional so that I can be as qualified and prepared as possible to support and empower students in higher education.
