Background
About Howard Rayner
With three decades of experience in the field of pre-hospital care, it is fair to say that I have developed an exceptionally sound knowledge of the sphere. This keen understanding covers risk assessment, event planning and management to ensure medical cover, and ambulance and major incident resilience and response management. Naturally pro-active, I derive great satisfaction from my ability to use this experience to improve outcomes for both my teams and my patients. Leading assessments and planning operations prior to numerous public events, including the 2012 London Olympics and Diamond Jubilee celebrations, I have been instrumental in providing comprehensive medical plans, which also include resilient communications and the response to major incidents. There are times the centres I managed have become involved in unplanned events, such as the London 7/7 bombings, in which case our communication and effective practise have provided invaluable support. I have experience in drafting the necessary documentation, in terms of policies and procedural guidelines, needed to maintain standards and ensure the clarity of strategic direction and forward planning. With extensive practise in writing and presenting reports, my training in all aspects of pre-hospital care allows me to contribute extensively to setting future paths and also both business and emergency continuity planning. A volunteer with St John Ambulance for some time before I was employed in the sector, I know how it feels to be a volunteer resource. This has given me a unique viewpoint in my appreciation and utilisation of such essential resources, and also of the additional training needed to support and encourage such volunteers. Alongside my wide-ranging experience this all-around viewpoint allows me to absolutely maximise the potential of what resources my team and I have, and to substantially increase successful patient outcomes as well as meet, or exceed, national standards and guidance.
