Background

About Hubert Langevin

Through my geological engineering bachelor degree at Laval University, I developed a particular interest in the study of geothermal energy and hydrogeology. I started to work in this renewable energy field when I applied for a professional internship at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique in Quebec (INRS-ETE) with the research team of professor Jasmin Raymond. In 2018, I was assigned to a research project to assess deep geothermal resources in the Magdalen Islands in Quebec. This project involved interpretations and integration of thermal properties into numerical heat transfer models. Through this, I have made reports, presentations and a conference paper at the Colloque International Franco-Québécois en énergies 2019. In 2019, I have started another study to assess the Takhini Hot Springs geothermal context in Yukon with the collaboration of the Yukon Geological Survey. I have a master degree in Earth sciences and the topic of this study was about ground source heat pump systems and thermal storage systems in a subarctic climate. Unlike other acquired experiences, the topic of this project focuses on low temperature systems which are more frequently implemented in residential or industrial buildings. All these jobs lead me to develop essential professional skills (teamwork, project management, problem-solving, determination, leadership, work ethics, etc.) that embellish my career path.
