About Hubert Neubrand

I am a seasoned Finance professional with extensive experience across industries and on both sides of the Atlantic. With experience in investment management, financing, advisory services, pension administration, and most recently, higher education, my broad subject matter expertise and devoted people management have cemented me as a strong leader among my peers. Grounded in integrity, commitment and a strong work ethic, I have excelled at bringing the best out of myself and those around me. I began my career in the pension department of a Swiss bank hoping to spend 6 months skiing the alps and travelling Europe. Several promotions kept me abroad for quite a bit longer and before long, I found myself managing the operations of a $3 billion-dollar asset base through the supervision of 10 direct reports – entirely in German. After returning to Canada, I joined an Advisory Services firm specializing in corporate restructurings. I learned a lot about credit, audit, and relationship building and it was here that my accounting career began with engagements in a variety of industries. In 2005 I joined MCAP's Finance department before moving into Product Development. For three enjoyable years, I honed my analytical and problem-solving skills while completing my accounting designation. I had no plans for a career change in 2007, but fate would connect me with Fidelity Investments where I found a home for well over a decade. There I led a high-performing team supporting executives with their Finance-related needs. Notable accomplishments included significant contributions to the sale of their Defined Contribution Recordkeeping business; the development and ownership of the company’s Fixed Administration Fee Policy; and acting as the lead for the Business Acceptance Committee where business opportunities were presented to the firm’s Senior Executive Team. Along the way, I earned the prestigious Leadership Award for “Exemplary behaviour showing leadership qualities, inspiring others and delivering value to the business”. I then joined Centennial College in the higher education sector and it has been another exceptional learning experience (pardon the pun). Hired as Director of the Corporate Planning Office, then promoted to Associate Vice President, Finance, and now as Chief Financial Officer, I am thrilled to be a part of such an outstanding organization in such a rewarding sector.
