About Hugh Kanaley

As President and Country Manager of Marcem Rentals Canada, I focus on business development and strategic expansion, helping to grow Marcem’s footprint across Canada and Australia. We supply specialist tooling and equipment to the civil, infrastructure, mining, and oil & gas industries. We focus on building lasting relationships, providing reliable local support, and delivering the level of service Marcem is known for. Alongside this role, I’m also a director and co-founder of Mobile Cranes Canada, the Canadian distributor for Franna cranes. We aim to introduce and support Franna’s pick-and-carry crane solutions across Canada, contributing to safer and more efficient lifting operations. What motivates me most is seeing the success of our clients and partners. I take pride in being part of teams that combine technical expertise with personalised service to help projects move forward smoothly. My path here has been a little unconventional. I grew up on a farm in Southern NSW, studied fisheries and marine science (BAppSc – Marine Environment, Fisheries Management), and spent seven years managing technical research projects with NSW DPI. Those experiences shaped my passion for agriculture, aquaculture, and the environment — and continue to influence the way I approach problem-solving, growth, and support today.
