About Hugo Abate

As a veterinarian and PhD in Animal Sciences, I have over six years of research and teaching experience in veterinary parasitology, focusing on protozoology and tick-borne diseases. I applied advanced molecular biology techniques such as PCR and ELISA to diagnose and monitor zoonotic infections and investigate disease transmission dynamics. In parallel, I contributed to water-related research, earning the Best Conference Paper Award in 2017 for my study on Cryptosporidium and Giardia in water sources and animals in Brazil. During my time as a Research Fellow at UEL – Universidade Estadual de Londrina, I supervised students, conducted experiments, and published multiple peer-reviewed papers. After relocating to Ireland, I transitioned to laboratory roles in the environmental and industrial sector. Initially, I worked as a contractor from Fitz Scientific, allocated at Indaver’s laboratory. In early 2025, I was officially hired by Indaver as a Laboratory Technician in the Solvents Laboratory, with a strong focus on Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) and Ion Chromatography (IC) for analysis of complex samples. I am motivated by challenging roles that combine innovation, problem-solving, and excellence in laboratory science, and I am continuously looking for opportunities to apply my multidisciplinary background in both research and applied industry settings.
