About Hugo Bouvy

Since 2019, I’ve been the Managing Director of DEME Offshore, which also makes me a member of the Executive Committee of the DEME Group. After a life dedicated to civil and offshore engineering, I am really proud to be able to lead such a dedicated team. In 1994, I graduated from Delft Technical University with a Master of Science in Civil Engineering, including a minor in Offshore Engineering. I started my career as an Installation and Project Engineer in the Gulf of Mexico, but soon I joined Tideway BV, now part of DEME Offshore. In 1995, I boarded the fallpipe vessel Rollingstone - first as a Superintendent, later as a Project Manager - working on rock placement operations all over the world. Exploring the seven seas, I became Area Manager for DEME Dredging in the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East in In that role, I had the opportunity to contribute to prestigious projects such as Doha Airport and the Pearl of the Gulf. In 2007, I was officially appointed Managing Director of Tideway BV (now part of DEME Offshore). In 2011, I joined the DEME Management Team and became a Board Member at numerous DEME entities worldwide. As Director of GSR, the deep-sea exploratory division of DEME, I was one of the driving forces behind DEME’s deep-sea mining activities. Today, this division holds worldwide concessions for the exploitation and exploration of manganese nodules using state-of-the-art technology. When Tideway BV merged into DEME Offshore in 2019, I became the Managing Director of the activity line Offshore within the DEME Group. Over the years, I successfully participated in management programs at INSEAD and completed various specialized courses in behavior-based safety.
