About Hugo Carrasco

I started as an agronomist, trained as a winemaker, grew as a technical business developer, and became a complete business manager. My passion for nature and science led me to embrace agronomic studies and specialise in viticulture and oenology. As a winemaker, I worked on 3 different continents and explored different cultures and wine techniques. Inside my own country, I had the privilege of working in different wine regions with their particular winemaking methods. Life led me to a different challenge a few years later, where I evolved to a more technical challenge role as a field advisor, trial manager and pest management specialist. That commitment to bringing sustainable solutions to farmers who could also be environmentally responsible made me accept the challenge of a startup company with a grand vision of the agriculture industry's future. There, I increased my business development skills by helping implement the sales network's roots across Europe, evolved my product development and project management skills, and enriched my knowledge of regulatory affairs in such a challenging region. My pursuit of professional growth made me invest in an MBA, where I finished top of my class due to my commitment and passion for all my undertaken projects. From that point on, my business skills grew exponentially. I left my sales manager role to embrace a new reality in the marketing department, expanding my knowledge of strategic marketing, business intelligence, product and branding management, communication expertise, leadership and financial management skills day by day. The experience raise by 20 years in the agriculture sector, with boots on the ground and multiple roles in the business, make me now fully aware of what type of products the market is looking for and how to bring a product from R&D to sales with a complete business case, go-to-market strategy and a sustainable marketing plan.
