About Hugo Cloudt

Hello! I, Hugo Cloudt, am interested in biotechnology and chemical technology, and especially in the process technology within these fascinating fields. Therefore, after achieving my VWO (pre-university education) degree cum laude at the Connect College in Echt, I dived into biotechnological and chemical process technology during my BSc Biotechnology at Wageningen University (one of the four technical universities of the Netherlands). I completed this BSc by graduating cum laude and, astonished by the endless possibilities of (bio)chemical processes, I continued my journey into (bio)chemical process technology by pursuing the Process Technology specialisation of Wageningen University’s MSc Biotechnology, which I successfully completed in February 2022. During my studies, I have specialised myself in modelling and simulation of (bio)chemical systems, ranging from sets of reactions (e.g. sets of chemical reactions, but also complete metabolic pathways in cells), to single unit operations, to complete (bio)chemical processes. Since my studies also equipped me with strong experimental skills, I have been perfectly prepared for a successful career in biotechnological and/or chemical process technology. At the moment, I am starting this career in (bio)chemical process engineering as a process engineer at the "OCI Nitrogen Europe" division of OCI Global at the Chemelot site in Geleen. I am diligent, structured, proactive, reliable, goal-oriented, flexible, enthusiastic, and a team player. However, most of all, I am a true critical thinker who is very eager to learn. Since I firmly believe that we should strive for a better world, I aim to deploy my talents and skills for the development and/or improvement of processes that contribute to a brighter future.
