About Hugo Rocha

Hugo holds a PhD in Design degree (2021, IADE-UE, Portugal) and an MBA in Marketing (2009, UFF, Brazil). He has been a Design professor in Brazil at Instituto Federal Fluminense since 2005, where he coordinated the Graphic Design undergraduate course from 2010 to 2015. Passionate about education and the power of change by design, his research focuses on designing higher education for social impact and sustainable innovation. He has 18 years of experience in design and seeking new ways of learning and teaching impact-driven design. Hugo has been a partner and founder of Vínculo Design Estratégico since 2007, where he has participated in over one hundred design projects for many different clients and areas. From identity design to branding, packaging to wayfinding, and editorial to UX/UI. Together with the design team, Hugo helped develop a proprietary methodology to approach projects more efficiently. From 2018 to 2021, Hugo co-produced the UnReleased, a Design Research Podcast part of the PhD in Design program at IADE-UE, a series of talks with Design specialists and researchers from all over the world to help map, broadcast and promote design research worldwide.
