About Humberto Iess

My name is Humberto, and I’m a 30-year-old Industrial Design Engineer with two post-graduate degrees in investigation and research and surface design from Elisava School of Design and Engineering. I’m currently remote-working for different car brands from the Canary Islands, my homeland. During my studies and thanks to my great performance, I received several awards for my final degree project (MAE) and my personal project (yum design). I started my professional career in 2015 as a Strak and Design Engineer for both car interior and exterior, in Barcelona. Different companies cultures and working techniques enhanced my designing and teamwork skills. While working at SEAT, with 23 years old I began my teaching career as a part-time professor in Elisava School of Design and Engineering. More precisely, as a professor in Computer Design and Design for Fabrication, subjects for the Industrial Engineer Degree. Few years ago, I decided to launch my own brand. The mission of the brand involves designing, manufacturing and selling sustainable recycled-plastic furniture products under the brand “Yum Design”. This project has taught me how hard is to create a brand from scratch and helped me improve my resilience and consistency skills. To end, I can define myself as a multitasker. I consider myself entrepreneur, passionate and hard-worker. I like challenges because is a mean to find motivation and achieve a result. For that reason, I’m not bothered if travelling and setting a new home abroad is required. Discovering new cultures as much as new people is one of my biggest passions, and I’m looking forward to it.
