About Hunar Malik

Staff-level data platform engineer with a track record of turning messy, high‑stakes data problems into scalable, governed platforms that unblock entire organizations. I specialize in building enterprise‑grade data hubs and location intelligence capabilities that power mission‑critical payment, risk, and analytics workloads across hybrid cloud environments. At RBC, I lead the architecture and delivery of multi‑tenant, cloud‑native and on-Prem data platforms using technologies such as Apache Iceberg, Starburst Trino, Apache Spark, Snowflake, and medallion architectures on OpenShift, AWS, and Azure. I work at the intersection of engineering, architecture, and product, partnering with senior leaders and cross‑functional teams to standardize data patterns, reduce operational and regulatory risk, and accelerate time‑to‑market for new data products. My focus areas include platform strategy, large‑scale data architecture, geospatial and address intelligence, and building reusable foundations (governance, security, observability, CI/CD) that let dozens of teams ship faster without compromising compliance. I enjoy defining the long‑term vision, making pragmatic trade‑offs under real constraints, and coaching teams to deliver robust, production‑ready systems—not just proofs of concept.I’m always interested in connecting with senior engineering, data, and product leaders who are solving hard problems in large, complex environments—especially around multi‑tenant platforms, financial services, and AI‑ready data foundations.
