About Hunter Kunzelmann

I’m a civil and environmental engineer with a strong foundation in stormwater infrastructure, water resources, and natural infrastructure design. With both a B.S. and M.S. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Georgia, my work is driven by a deep interest in the intersections of nature-based solutions, community resilience, and sustainable infrastructure systems. As a Ducks Unlimited Fellow and Graduate Research Assistant at UGA’s Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems, I contributed to wetland restoration research, GIS mapping, and sensor-based data analysis in both coastal and inland settings. I’ve also worked in municipal engineering as an intern with the Athens-Clarke County Public Works Department, where I created Civil 3D design drawings, delineated watersheds, and performed infrastructure inspections—gaining firsthand experience in the public sector and stormwater project implementation. I enjoy applying technical tools like AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, HY-8, and MATLAB to solve real-world challenges. Whether I’m designing a wetland, modeling a watershed, or translating data into actionable designs, I take pride in the details that help infrastructure function better for people and the environment.
