About Hunter Lassard

I am a motivated student pursuing a BS degree in Biomedical Engineering and an MS in Mechanical engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. I am currently seeking a full time position in the medical device innovation and manufacturing industry. I am interested in how implantable biomaterials, surgical equipment, and and bio-signal feedback technologies can benefit patient's quality of life and biomechanics. Through my professional and academic experiences, I have acquired skills in medical device design, signal processing, process optimization, CAD, and data analysis. I gained industry experience at Lonza Biologics, a pharmaceutical manufacturing company, as a Plant Engineer Intern. I worked with engineers to maintain and troubleshoot equipment, source and document new parts, and commission new process parameters. My main project commissioned and validated new process trends in Lonza’s Standard Operating Procedures to reduce water waste. This experience taught me the intricacies of medical manufacturing, industry standards, and project management. I also simulated a finite element analysis of hip dysplasia’s effect on hip joint degradation using SolidWorks geometry in Abaqus. I developed a MATLAB model of the human auditory system that simulates sound transduction to be used for hearing loss research. My graduate research project aims to improve the comfortability and efficiency of traditional blood pressure cuffs. I analyzed the market need, product development timeline, and use ANSYS to simulate different designs. I also value collaborating with teams of diverse backgrounds. I have international team experience through a 2-month project in Puerto Rico, developing a new Volunteer Management System for renowned community center.In my personal life I enjoy staying active and present through hiking, fishing, weightlifting, snowmobiling, meditating, and cooking. I am enthusiastic about leading a healthy lifestyle and understanding how the choices that we make everyday effect our well being and quality of life.
