About Hunter Wong

Hi there! I am currently a recent graduate from the University of Toronto, graduating with an Honours Bachelor of Science, majoring in Statistics, and minoring in Mathematical Sciences and Computer Science. In my spare time, I enjoy playing various sports such as baseball, hockey, basketball and golf. My passion is to combine my experience with Math and Stats with my knowledge and love for sports. My experience in programming languages such as Python, R, Java and MySQL through courses that I have taken at the University level, as well as my proficiency in Microsoft Office, strengthens my ability to look at sport through an analytical lens. I am currently the Analytics Coordinator for the University of Toronto Varsity Men’s Hockey Team. In this role, I collect in-game data, then clean and analyze that data to calculate advanced statistics, and generate concepts to express the game from a quantitative perspective using Pandas. Leveraging my proficiency in Python, I have developed a data visualization program to demonstrate shot, and turnover locations, as well as player comparisons. I am also currently in a full-time Educator role at Lululemon. In this position, I engage and connect with guests and athletes alike in a fast-paced environment, as well as present my knowledge of the product. As an Educator, I apply my interpersonal skills, to achieve team goals with my fellow Educators. As someone who is always looking for opportunities to grow, I have expanded my knowledge of programming systems, allowing me to be proficient in 4 computer languages. Through the opportunities that the University of Toronto has provided me, I am eager to learn and collaborate with my peers to increase my interpersonal and professional skills.
