About Husain Asgerally

I am a Consultant Paediatrician with excellent experience in managing acute and chronic illness in children. I see patients from newborn infants all the way upto adolescent's aged 18 in the NHS and privately at Nuffield and Spire Hospitals. My experience ranges from managing allergy and skin prick testing, breathing problems, wheeze and asthma, heart murmurs, palpitations, dizziness, collapsing episodes and chest pain, family history of heart conditions and congenital cardiac disease, feeding problems and food intolerances such as Cows Milk protein allergy and coeliacs disease, eczema, abdominal pain, constipation and urine infections. I am trained in congenital cardiac echocardiography and manage complex cardiac conditions in children in the East Midlands as part of a wider multi disciplinary team. I am a Newborn Life support instructor and a medical education enthusiast. In my role at NUH, I am a clinical and educational supervisor to trainees and a mentor for young budding doctors and paediatricians. I have a Masters Degree in improving the quality of Healthcare and patient safety which helps me in understanding where things can go wrong and support families and Healthcare organisation in improving care. I am the lead for clinic audit in Paediatrics at a tertiary children's hospital and this involves constantly improving quality of the health care we deliver in the safest possible way. My other interests have included my work with the BMA to improve the working lives of junior doctors, my involvement in RCPCH at regional and national levels and working in communities to offer first aid and basic life support training. My communication skills and multiple language skills allow me to effectively engage a multicultural group of my patients. I am a proud father of 3 and a cricket enthusiast.
