About Husoni Raymond

As a J.D. candidate at Osgoode Hall Law School, I am passionate about the intersection of law and social policy, and how they can be used to create positive change in society. I have developed strong research, writing, and analytical skills through my academic work and my role as a Senior Editor at The Journal of Law and Social Policy, where I reviewed and provided feedback on journal submissions on various topics related to law and social justice.I am also an experienced leader and advocate, most recently serving as the National President of the Black Law Students' Association of Canada, where I represented the interests of over 400 Black law students across Canada and oversaw the planning and execution of major national events, such as the annual conference, moot competition, workshops, and symposiums. In addition, I was a 2L Summer Student at McCarthy Tétrault, one of Canada's leading law firms, where I assisted with closing documents, drafting preliminary documents, and updating precedents for complex financing transactions. I have demonstrated effective communication, collaboration, and project management skills in both roles, working with diverse teams and stakeholders to achieve common goals and deliver high-quality results.My values, motivations, and goals are driven by my commitment to making the world more inclusive and helping others feel included. I have received multiple awards and certifications for my involvement in various public interest and diversity initiatives, such as the New Brunswick Champion of Cultural Diversity award, the Anti-racism Certificate, and the Beyond Inclusion Training Certificate.
