Startup Mentor | Venture Builder Amr Hussain is a long-time ecosystem builder, currently working at RiseUp as an Entrepreneur in Residence, one of the largest entrepreneurship organizations in the MENA region, where he is entrusted with community management and investor relations. Hussain’s pathway to the field of entrepreneurship is a unique one– having originally graduated with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Organic Chemistry and with the full capacity to kickstart a fruitful career in the field. However, having always had a passion for business and entrepreneurship, Hussain decided to follow his passions and inch toward his dream of becoming an ecosystem builder. This switch fuels his drive to uplift the region’s most promising entrepreneurs toward a prosperous future. In 2016, Hussain took his first shot at entrepreneurship by launching his own digital platform, Mezany, a platform that allowed travelers to book their own local adventures and activities when traveling to either Cairo, Egypt, or Dubai, UAE. After deciding to close down Mezany, in 2019, Hussain decided to create his own startup– StarterHub– an organization that helps connect entrepreneurs to relevant resources, later to be acquired by the region’s most prominent entrepreneurship events organizer, RiseUp. Over the past three years alone, Hussain has been hosted on podcasts, invited to conferences, and headhunted for mentorship positions at well-known regional ecosystem enablers, such as Flat6Labs, MISK Foundation, Seedstars, Edvventures, TIEC, MIT Enterprise Forum, Orange Digital Center, Startups Without Borders, Hult Prize, Startup Factory, Mint by Egybank, Bank Misr, Nilepreneurs, Falak Startups, The American University in Cairo and UNICEF, where he trained a total of up-and-coming entrepreneurs in pre-seed and seed stages, and lent hundreds of hours of his time connecting startups all over the MENA region.
