About Iain Skally

I am currently working as Quality Manager(since Feb 2021) at Stryker Macroom with responsibility for the overall management of the Quality Engineering and Operations team. I have worked in the medical device industry since 2001. In that time I have developed through further education from a product builder to now Quality Manager. I worked in production Quality from 2004 and as a result have been exposed to and managed multiple facets of the production environment. These include managing the quality metrics through risk reduction and continuous improvement. I have managed projects such as production line moves which have consolidated space utilisation and improved efficiency. New product introduction and design changes have also been part of my experiences whereby I have been responsible for the control of the manufacturing and release of the products to the approved markets. I changed employer in Feb 2015 to continue my personal development and experience. My responsibilities in my new role included managing, maintaining and improving multiple facets of the QMS, continuous improvement and people management. I joined Wright Medical in Macroom Co. Cork as a Quality Engineer in April 2016 and my role included ownership and approval of software,equipment and packaging validations, new product introduction and general change control. From Jan 2018 to Feb 2021 I worked as a Senior Quality Engineer at Wright with responsibility for managing on site validation and change control along with the Packaging and Cleaning special process. I also liaised with global colleagues on alignment of processes and procedures and had significant input into New Product introductions related to the packaging and cleaning processes, continuous improvement activities and performance metrics both from a functional, site and global perspective.
