About Ian Apfelbaum

Ian Apfelbaum began his professional career in Sales with a leading Confectionary Brand. As he began to involve himself in the community, he saw a substantial need for resources that served people experiencing homelessness. Because of that, he found City Care and the Night Shelter, a low-barrier homeless shelter in Oklahoma City providing emergency shelter for 140 guests a night. In the first year of the shelter opening, it served 1,870 unique individuals, including 36 families. When he became a supporter of City Care as a volunteer, he became aware of an opportunity to change career paths into the not-for-profit field and left the sales industry for City Care. He started this new path at City Care as a Housing Navigator, gaining experience in the Homeless Services and Case Management space while also establishing himself as a respected leader and program organizer. After a short time, he became the Assistant Director of Homeless Services. He now leads a team of Navigators and Advocates in working towards ending individuals' homelessness and connecting them with wraparound services to reduce recidivism.
