About Ian Baumann

Born and raised in Belleville, Illinois. I come from a blue collar, midwestern, family-oriented upbringing. The simple, yet powerful, sentiments of hard work paying off, striving towards open-mindedness, and an unrelenting curiosity characterize who I am. Perhaps more importantly, this also characterizes how I see the world around me. Athletics and the great outdoors absorbed every morsel of free time I had as a kid and throughout my teenage years. In retrospect, I can't really say that has changed much. I attended high school in Belleville, and earned a scholarship to play football at Lindenwood University in Belleville; a journey that was cut short by means of several knee injuries. Along the way, I worked many different jobs in the retail, and manual labor, spheres. This was until upon several moments of self reflection, I realized the deep purpose I felt in working at my local YMCA; the same place I learned to swim, to play ball, workout, and find new friends. The very facility I grew up in. The common thread I took from these experiences was my desire to make an impact in my community; the places that felt like home. I extracted so much joy from making members smile, believe in themselves, and welcoming new members into the YMCA family. I appreciated the opportunity to impart the notion that those who lived in our neighborhoods, the fellow community populous, that they could achieve anything they set their mind to - because we really can.Through Lindenwood, Southwestern Illinois College, and UMSL, I was given the opportunity to attain a bachelors degree in business. Degree in hand, I have now found a career launching point with Wells Fargo Advisors, where I aim daily to make that same aforementioned impact. My community scope may have expanded slightly, but my purpose remains a stalwart. I derive seemingly infinite gratification by doing my job to the best of my abilities, while maximizing my long term potential both at work, but also in life at large. I am willing to learn just about anything, and ultimately feel that as long as I stay true to myself, plus where I come from, that I can affect any workplace in a positive manner.
