Background
About Ian Bruce
I am originally from Thunder Bay Ontario. I moved to BC in 1980 for the skiing. I immediately got a job with Blackcomb Skiing Enterprises (as it was known in the day) and shortly afterwards was offered the first apprenticeship for this young company. My career at Whistler Blackcomb lasted through the 80's and into the early 90's. It was a life changing experience for me, working through an explosive growth period in the ski industry. I went from doing maintenance on mobile equipment to major maintenance on glacial t-bars. I took this experience to Apex Mountain in Penticton for several years before moving back to Vancouver. I was recruited by Penske Canada where I worked as a commercial inspector. This work added to my experience where I gained several more endorsements and my class 1 licence. Presently I am working out of an enhancement facility for Fisheries And Oceans Canada with the Pacific Salmon Strategy Initiative branch. I am proud of the work we do to protect and enhance the salmon runs across the province.
