About Ian Chambers

Since 2013, have led a hugely popular Community Talk Radio Station in East London. I have drawn on many areas of expertise from my past career in financial services and people management, with 35 years volunteering for community radio in my spare time. Much of this has been leading and growing charities and building new organisations from the remains of others. Launched first new hospital radio station in London for over 10 years. Broadened my skills base in many aspects of local media, forming good network of partnerships across East London. Previously a solid career in financial services and bank card acquiring/management, with responsibility for maintaining and growing existing B2B portfolios worth in excess of £65m per annum, with some significant National and International names. Managed a wonderful team across several UK sites. Spent 10 years as a local school governor, three of which as a Chair of Governors, helping me understand the challenges and constraints of our education system, the importance of effective school management, whilst appreciating the amazing work happening for our next generation. Also involved managing a diverse board of volunteer governors, who shared my passion East Londoner since the 1980s, feel the area deserves the best radio station it can be very proud of.
