About Ian Emery

I am a Registered Forest Technologist working in the Forest Sector where the environment is highly dynamic due to environmental and market fluctuations. I provide project management in a team environment with a passion for safety. In addition to my field based contract supervision and safety management duties I have chaired safety committees and lead safety task groups. I am comfortable working in different environments and across computing platforms whether it be working remotely with a virtual team or on site in isolated camp locations. My hands on practical experience in forest engineering and contract supervision combine well with my formal project management training and education to give me the skills to bring challenging projects to completion on time and on budget with good safety results. These skills and experiences helped me in my role on the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP) Council where I learned the importance of policy governance for a Board of Directors. My three year term as Vice President, President and Past President helped me to further build knowledge of the Carver Model of Governance and apply the skills while working closely with the Executive Director and leading Council. In summary I have the knowledge and skills to work confidently in both the Boardroom and field environment to manage projects of various sizes with multidisciplinary professionals. Specialties: Planning, engineering and construction supervision of forest roads, earthworks and harvest cutblocks. Other specialties include incident investigations, human factors and project management. Over 25 years of experiance working with a team of professionals on extremely difficult terrian in isolated areas. Focus on safety, quality, scheduling, cost and team approach.
