About Ian Goodman

Cybersecurity clicked for me the moment I began understanding how systems work—and how to defend them. I’m a graduate of Miami Dade College with an A.S. in Cybersecurity, currently working full-time in IT and continuing to grow through hands-on lab environments and real-world projects. I’ve built a SOC-style home lab using pfSense, Wazuh, ELK Stack, Splunk, Kali Linux, and Windows Server 2022, with multiple VMs segmented across isolated networks to simulate enterprise-level detection and response. I’ve configured and documented Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, GPOs, and log forwarding pipelines, and conducted simulated attacks to test and refine detection workflows across different tools. I’m Microsoft SC-900 and CompTIA Security+ certified, with a strong focus on cloud security, identity management, and Blue Team operations. Currently preparing for the CySA+, I’m enhancing my analytical capabilities in log correlation, threat detection, and incident response. My goal is to transition into a SOC Analyst role, applying my technical foundation, documentation habits, and investigative mindset to help organizations strengthen their defensive posture—especially within federal or cleared environments.
