About Ian Hicks
I am a graduate student researcher studying synthetic organic chemistry at Northeastern University. I am interested in stereoselective asymmetric synthesis of rare sugars, and their implementation as medicinal scaffolds. My general research goal is to develop a broad-scope methodology to access a wide variety of sugars, and to use these products as building blocks toward the discovery of new anti-microbial agents. Further, I plan to perform stereochemical structure activity relationship studies to better understand how the 3-D molecular geometry of these molecules affects biological outcomes.
