About Ian Johnson

For over 20 years, Ian has established his experience in the built environment, working in many facets of the industry including; carpentry, sustainability consulting, renewable energy, regenerative design, permaculture, project management, design and large scale construction. His current focus is on Regenerative Design, healthy materials, sustainability, Passive House and net positive projects and permaculture. He looks to bring high performance design to the next level through integration of buildings, people and landscapes, creating resilient and regenerative places. Working on projects in all areas, residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal, Ian has experience on a wide variety of project types. In recent years he has focused on Passive House Energy Modeling using WUFI software for PHIUS projects, as well as Healthy Material research and corporate sustainability initiatives. Building projects include: commercial, multi-family high rise buildings, schools, universities, hospitals, corporate offices and industrial spaces. Ian holds valuable insight into the many layers of building science and ecological integration through his many years of in-field management experience. Combining his passion for the environment and construction, he is now building with Croft. Croft buildings are comprised of local lumber, straw insulation making for some of the most healthy and energy efficient buildings available.
