About Ian Lansdowne

I am a programmer, roboticist, and student at Texas A&M University. As a motivated learner, I like to explore the cutting edge of technology and I am interested in expanding it in the field of robotics. I always strive for simplicity and elegance in my design work and I work hard to make robust and maintainable products. As an intern for NASA, I worked with the Department of Defense to design and develop a cheap and capable mesh network of remote-controlled robots to detect bombs. Using just a Raspberry Pi, cheap RC trucks, and a few other cheap components, I designed, programmed, and built a mesh network capable of stretching across a quarter-mile of land. With projects like this one, I hope to create simple, elegant, and affordable robots that solve large, real-world problems. As an undergraduate student at Texas A&M University, I am refining my skills and learning to accomplish more with robotics while pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
