About Ian Lesser

My fourteen years of experience in finance technology have encompassed three progressively responsible roles, beginning with direct technical support for trading platforms and partner applications, following with advancement into a program to move customer facing associates into technical roles and then several years of platform and system engineering, and culminating in my role as a senior software developer for the WealthScape platforms. Having a background that included both freelance development work and front line support has enabled me to keep a customer first mindset, one that drives how I think about user experience and clean, engaging interfaces, how I approach testing throughout the development lifecycle, and even how I write code (code is a language like any other, it has convention, grammar, style, and the potential to be expressive and even beautiful). Some of my favorite success stories have been writing a library of scripts to find and report sensitive data in anticipation of a GDPR compliance push, developing a process to simplify and standardize large document migrations into Documentum, building out new components to help bring in data from CMSes in an Angular/TypeScript UI, and experimenting with and onboarding new UI automation and API testing libraries to help my product team push testing further left and empower developers to be their own QAs. I'm a firm believer in an Agile mindset and in providing software that's both clean and delivered on time, and in collaborative work between developers, analysts, UI designers, and other stakeholders as we all have important perspective on our shared end product.
