About Ian MacDonald

Are you seeking to build a more effective learning institution or organization, one that’s truly dynamic and genuinely committed to engaging stakeholders? I am committed to developing and practising modern, experiential, approaches to education and training. In addition to dedicating much of my working life to practising progressive learning approaches, I've spent many years intensively researching their underlying rationale and benefits. Why does this matter today? Education, and arguably the society that it serves, is broken. However, you’d never guess by the languid response of most universities and business schools. In many organizations you can find widespread reluctance to innovate and you can encounter resistance to changing archaic processes and practices. Once in a while you’ll find people who, like me, believe that should urgently address important issues that hinder learning. However, those individuals represent a dispersed and isolated minority who don’t fit the existing educator mould. It takes considerable courage and conviction to fly in the face of adversity and to challenge the status quo. Are those qualities you seek in leaders of education and learning? I'm a training consultant and university teacher who helps individuals and groups to achieve challenging goals. As an instructional designer, I'm innovative, I willingly taking risks and I have a clear sense of what works and what doesn't. For over 25 years, I've created and delivered successful training courses and education programmes and I now wish to share my experience and knowledge. I'm currently interested in appropriate staff- and organization development roles or positions where I can influence the way that education and training is delivered.
