About Ian McElroy
Graduated from the University of Rhode Island (URI) in May 2019, where I participated in the International Engineering program, and studied Ocean Engineering and French. Specialized in underwater robotics including remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), hydrodynamics, and wave mechanics. Furthered my specialization in underwater robotics by completing my M.S. degree at URI by the summer 2019. Experience also includes 3+ years of research experience with underwater vehicles in the Robotics Laboratory for Complex Underwater Environments (R-CUE) as an undergraduate researcher, a summer engineering internship with Leidos Inc, a summer engineering internship with Navatek Ltd, and a 6-month engineering internship with CGG in Massy, France as part of a 1-year exchange program with the Université de Technologie de Compiègne. Currently a Senior Robotics Engineer at Forssea Robotics with the Robot team, I am responsible for supporting the development and testing of new features related to assisted/autonomous maneuvers, underwater localization and navigation, sensor/hardware integration, etc, for the Argos and Atoll Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV).
