Background
About Ian Membe
Professional and leader in program management, coordination, systems setup, and strategic information/M&E. I am currently the Deputy Director for the USAID Lesotho office, where I provide management, leadership as well as program technical support as needed on the full range of USAID’s PEPFAR portfolio in Lesotho. Before that, I was the Senior Strategic Information Advisor for USAID Lesotho in which role I oversaw the program's performance reporting and assessment. Before this, I worked as a Senior Program Specialist with the U.S. Department of State's PEPFAR Coordination Office (PCO) in Zambia for three years, and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where I was a Strategic Information Advisor as well as Activity/Program Manager for seven years. At the PCO I coordinated the writing of a multimillion-dollar Country Operational Plan, which included funding for USAID, CDC, DoD, and Peace Corps. Whilst at CDC I led a process to raise over USD $6M in new funding for an on-going program I was managing. Initially, this program was only receiving a few thousand dollars. I had also previously worked in monitoring and evaluation/strategic information roles with World Vision and Care International USAID-funded consortia. While at CDC, I attended the prestigious Leadership Management Institute run by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta GA. The program targets rising managers and leaders. My core skills include program management; leadership in the setup and implementation of systems; and coordination of multi-disciplinary teams. I have strong skills in data collection, data storage systems, data analysis, and in making clear and compelling presentation of results/achievements. In addition, I am a seasoned trainer who helped set up the M&E Center of Excellence and also gave part-time lectures at the University of Zambia.
