About Ian Morrison

With a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, my motivation to pursue a career in the IT industry stems from my interests in human-computer interface, human factors in technology, and psychology's influence in technology and vice-versa. Working in my first role as a Finance IT Specialist with SWCCAC, I realized that there is much more to the integration of psychology and information technology, and Project Management offered me an avenue to explore and amalgamate my credentials in psychology and IT. Gaining a basic understanding of business operations at the start of my career, I have defined problem statements, built, and implemented human-centric solutions to solve daily problems and improve operations. Building upon my technical competencies, I gained certifications in Project Management, SCRUM and ITIL Foundations, setting me up for a rewarding career in Project Management. My in-depth understanding of PM concepts and technology development has enabled me to lead multiple projects simultaneously, manage people, vendors, schedules, acquire resources, forecast budgets, develop, test, and deploy the solutions at the clients' premises. Furthermore, I have negotiated with clients to understand their requirements and resolve conflicts while fostering healthy and long-lasting relationships to acquire repeat business. When I am not working, I prefer to maintain a healthy work-life balance, spend time with my family at home, exercising, and setting a personal goal to achieve. Additionally, I actively facilitate the operations of my condominium, as a member of the Board of Directors, managing minor renovation projects, janitorial services and leading the overall maintenance. Moreover, I take time off to leverage the power of my network to keep myself abreast of the latest developments in project management and actively contributing to the growth of the Project Management Institute across South-Western Ontario.
