About Ian Patrick Reid

Investment professional with an amalgamation of investing, stats/math, and compsci/programming skills. Strong quantitative background with a Master's degree in Statistics with a Computer Science Minor, and a double Bachelor's degree in Finance and Economics. Perpetually focused an getting better, smarter, faster at everything I do with a curious and analytical outlook, as well as an insatiable thirst for knowledge and understanding. Currently working to focus my education and experience through the lens of advanced professional certifications, namely the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, the Certification in Quantitative Finance (CQF), the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation, and the Certified Algorithmic Trader (CAT) designation, the last of which I have completed. My goal is to utilize my education, experience, and advanced skills to be a robust, quantitatively-oriented analytical expert in the investment industry. I have experience with multiple programming languages of multiple types (ie software or general-purpose, statistical packages, database, and web-based). The majority of in-depth coding projects have been in Python, Java, Visual Basic, R, Stata, and C++. I attempt to stay abreast of current ideas, topics, and findings in my fields with explorations of professional interest in quant finance, machine learning, pattern and speech recognition, genetic algorithms, predictive analytics, financial engineering, market microstructure, behavioral finance, trading and execution strategies, etc. Finally, I have an overall passion for learning that extends from the professional realm to the personal. Whether in the sciences, politics, history, etc, I thoroughly enjoy learning new things and perpetually continuing my education.a lifelong learner.
