About Ian Peake

I’m an NHS addictions clinician. I work across Complex Needs, the Enhanced Drug Treatment Service, Scotland’s Safer Drug Consumption Facility, and mainstream Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services. My work centres on humane, evidence-based care for people navigating the most difficult intersections of poverty, trauma, homelessness, and substance use.Day to day, that means working alongside multi-disciplinary teams, providing treatment and stabilisation, and adapting care to meet people where they are.I have a background in teaching and in ecology, and both continue to shape the way I work — observing closely, designing from evidence, and looking for changes that make a tangible difference. Whether in clinical care or small-scale service improvement, I’m interested in how systems can be shaped to lower barriers, reduce harm, and give people a fairer chance.
