About Ian Schrack

Currently a 5th year Ph.D. candidate in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan, I am deeply engrossed in the intersection of biotechnology and immunotherapy, with a focus on engineering synthetic metastatic niches for improved cancer detection and treatment. My journey began with a B.S. and M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, where I delved into protein engineering in Professor Benjamin Hackel’s lab. My academic pursuits have been complemented by hands-on experience through participation in the national NSF I-CORPS program, enhancing my understanding of commercializing biotech innovations, alongside notable involvements in the Walleye Tank life-science pitch competition and the MN Cup. I further honed my expertise at City of Hope’s T Cell Therapeutics Research Laboratory, contributing to cutting-edge CAR T cell therapy research. This experience solidified my passion for developing innovative immunotherapies. As I navigate through my Ph.D, I am eager to explore opportunities that bridge innovative research with clinical applications to revolutionize patient care in oncology. I am particularly interested in roles that leverage my background in biotechnology, systems biology, and my entrepreneurial spirit to advance the field of immunotherapy.
