About Ian Simons

About Me: I am an IT Infrastructure Analyst at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust with 20 years of IT experience in a variety of roles. I have worked for a number of large organizations including the BBC, Siemens, NHS, Lloyds Bank and British Telecom in 1st, 2nd and 3rd line positions. Certification: I hold certifications from Cisco, VMware, Microsoft and CompTIA. I am currently working towards certification in Microsoft Azure, Microsoft M365 and Cisco Enterprise, I am also updating my VMware VCP-DCV from 6 to 7 (2021) and starting a course in VMware NSX-T. Personal: Outside of work I also enjoy computing and have recently completed building a home lab which I enjoy training on. I enjoy reading popular science with a keen interest in Quantum Theory (still learning this one). I have my own website which I am looking to keep updated with tips and tricks I have taken away from completing projects at work in addition to insights from studying at home. I am married and my wife and I have two French bulldogs and a cat, and live in the beautiful town of Weston-Super-Mare, originally moving to the area from Bristol for a slightly slower pace of life.
